Wave Lands Fourth & Fifth at Weekend Regattas

NEW ORLEANS – Tulane sailing earned fourth and fifth places this weekend competing in a pair of separate regattas in the northeast. The Green Wave landed fourth among 18 teams racing in the Women's ACC Semifinals and placed fifth in a field of 20 teams at the Danmark Trophy.
On the waters of the Severn River the Wave ended with 106 total points through nine races to finish fourth in the Women's ACC Semifinals hosted by Navy in Annapolis, Maryland. Tulane was paced by the duo of Ava Anderson and Ella May Corckran in the A Division of the regatta. The sailing pair placed third in their division with one race victory and a pair of top two finishes to end 47 total points.
Over in the B Division in Annapolis, the racing of Gabriela Vassel with Skye Terrell placed the Wave fifth in the division. Vassel and Terrell placed in the top three twice in nine races to close the regatta with 59 total points.
In the Danmark Trophy hosted by the United States Coast Guard Academy in New London, Connecticut, the Green Wave placed fifth overall finishing with 176 total points through 11 rotations. Across both divisions of racing Tulane earned a pair of first place finishes as well as seven total performances in the top three.
The Wave finished with 88 points in both the A Division and the B Division to land sixth in each division. Skipper Hamilton Barclay teamed with crew Taylor Bartell in the A Division to post five races inside the top five including one victory. Meanwhile in the B Division, skipper Tate Christopher raced with crew Hope Breslin to record one win in four top four finishes.
Up next, Tulane will return to the New London, Connecticut, for a pair of regattas on Saturday and Sunday, October 4-5. The Green Wave will compete in the Coed ACC Semifinals hosted by the U.S. Coast Guard Academy and race for the Stu Nelson Trophy hosted by Central Connecticut College.
