NEW ORLEANS – A 20-4 run in the opening minutes of the second half powered Tulane men's basketball (14-10, 5-6) to a 77-66 victory over Temple (15-9, 7-4) inside Avron B. Fogelman Arena in the Devlin Fieldhouse Wednesday night. The Green Wave connected at a stellar 68.4 percent from the floor while holding the Owls to just 37.0 percent in the second frame.
With the win, Tulane improved to 9-6 at home this season including a 2-4 mark against league opponents. The victory also marked the third-straight win for the Green Wave over Temple in New Orleans. Â

Â
Tulane scored the first four points of the night before the two teams began to go back-and-forth throughout the first half. Neither team ever led by more than four points during the first frame as the evenly matched battled hit the half tied 30-30.
Â
After the Wave and the Owls each scored in the opening minute of the second half, Tulane started to roll on both ends of the floor. The Green Wave started with an 11-0 run to take a 44-32 advantage with 15:24 to play.
Â
The onslaught from Tulane did not stop there as the run ballooned to a 20-4 spurt that put the Wave in front by 17 points (53-36) with 11:17 remaining. A few minutes later a pair of free throws from Brumbaugh gave the Green Wave its largest lead of the night at 62-43.
Â
With under six minutes on the clock Temple turned up the pressure to try and climb back into the game. The Tulane lead slowly dwindled back to single digits at 65-57 with 3:12 on the clock. However, the Wave answered to push its advantage back out to 13 before closing out the game at the free throw line for a 77-66 victory.
