Wave Picks Up Regatta Victory in Charleston

NEW ORLEANS – Tulane University sailing secured its second regatta win of the spring finishing first in the Phebe Corckran King Women's Team Race in Charleston, South Carolina, over the weekend. The Green Wave also picked up third place finishes at the Bob Bavier Open Team Race in Charleston and the St. Mary's Open Team Race in St. Mary's City, Maryland.

The women's team competing for Tulane in the Phebe Corckran King Women's Team Race posted a 9-3 record to take first place in the regatta. The Wave earned victories over each of the other four teams in the regatta including three over Jacksonville and MIT. Leading the Green Wave on the water to the regatta victory were skippers Oakley Cunningham, Lola Kohl, and Ava Anderson with crews Caroline Caudron, Skye Terrell, Sloane Mullin, Ella May Corckran, and Cate Anderson.

Over in the Bob Bavier Open Team Race the Wave claimed third place among eight teams competing in the regatta. Tulane finished with an 8-5 record collecting two wins over North Carolina State, Miami, and Roger Williams while adding one win over both St. Mary's College and Roger Williams. Representing the Green Wave on the water in the third-place finish were skippers Tate Christopher, John Wood, Ryan Ehnot, and Matheo Capasso with crews Hope Breslin, Charlotte Casey, Sophia Adams, and Parker Kumler.

Meanwhile, in Maryland at the St. Mary's Open Team Race Tulane placed third out of 10 teams with a 7-2 record. Skippers Kelly Holthus, Christian Ebbin, and Hamilton Barclay teamed with crews Jonah Wozniak, Sabrina Anderson, and Taylor Bartell to earn wins over College of Charleston, Christopher Newport, St. Mary's College, Navy, Cornell, Rhode Island, and George Washington.

Up next, Tulane will compete in a pair of road regattas in Charleston, South Carolina, and New London, Connecticut, on Saturday and Sunday, March 14-15. The Green Wave will hit the water to race in the Southern New England Open Team Race hosted by Central Connecticut, and the Charleston Women's Team Race hosted by College of Charleston.
