Baseball Plays Host to Stetson in Non-Conference Weekend Finale

NEW ORLEANS – Tulane baseball faces Stetson in a three-game series this weekend at Greer Field at Turchin Stadium in its final non-conference weekend series of the season. Game times are 6:30 p.m. Friday, 4 p.m. Saturday and 1 p.m. Sunday.

The Green Wave enter the weekend at 8-13, and winners of three in a row and five of their last six. The Hatters, meanwhile, are 8-15, and coming off a 9-8 defeat to Florida in 11 innings on Tuesday. The games will be broadcast on 88.3 FM WRBH and the TuneIn Radio app, and live stats and live video will be available on www.TulaneGreenWave.com.

Tulane will recognize the 1992 Metro Conference Championship team prior to the game on Saturday. The '92 Green Wave won the program's first conference tournament title in 10 years, and began a run of 12 NCAA Regional appearances in 15 years.

Series History
This will be the sixth meeting between Tulane and Stetson. Tulane leads the series, 3-2. The teams last played in 1994, a 7-3 Stetson win in New Orleans. The Green Wave won the first two meetings, 6-4 and 6-1, in 1997. The teams split a pair of games in 1979, as the Wave won, 12-2, and the Hatters won, 8-6. All five contests have been played in New Orleans.

Tulane to Honor 1992 Metro Conference Champs This Weekend
     The Green Wave will honor the 1992 Metro Conference Baseball Championship team this weekend. Saturday, players and coaches from the 1992 squad will be recognized on the field prior to the 4 p.m. first pitch.
     Led by head coach Joe Brockhoff, and assistant coaches Brian Migliore, Tommy Mathews and Joey Brockhoff, the Green Wave won the Metro Conference Tournament Championship, its first conference tournament title in 10 years. Tulane's NCAA Regional appearance was the first in three years for the program, and sparked a run of 12 regionals over the next 15 years for Tulane baseball.

• Tulane has won three in a row and five of its last six games, and claimed two series victories this season – vs. West Virginia and Columbia.
• Hunter Williams was named on the American Athletic Conference Honor Roll this week after hitting .636/.733/1.272 with three doubles, a home run, four RBI and five runs scored in Tulane's series weekend win over Columbia.
• Williams leads Tulane with a .365 batting average, 31 hits, seven doubles, 11 extra base hits, a .576 SLG% and a .438 OBP. Grant Witherspoon leads the Wave with 18 runs and five stolen bases, and hits .309.
• Jarret DeHart has driven in the most runs, with 25 RBI, and leads the team with six home runs. He has 10 extra base hits.

• Freshman catcher Paul Gozzo has reached base in eight of the nine games in which he has played. He took over catching duties after senior Jeremy Montalbano was injured in a game on March 5. Gozzo is hitting .333 (9-for-27) with four RBI and five runs, including the game-winning hit against Columbia on March 19.
• Three players have started all 21 games for the Green Wave this season: Grant Witherspoon, Jarret DeHart and Hunter Williams. Jake Willsey has played in all 21 games with 20 starts.
