
Palacios Leads the Green Wave at the Ruth’s Chris Tar Heel Invitational

CHAPEL HILL, N.C. – The Tulane University women's golf team finished 15th with a score of 19-over 883 at the Ruth's Chris Tar Heel Invitational.
Freshman Carlota Palacios led the way for the Green Wave as she finished tied sixth with a total score of four-under 212. She shot her season-low five-under 67 in the second round of the tournament after posting a score of one-under 71 in the first round. Palacios logged a two-over 74 in the final round. The Vitoria, Spain, native had 13 birdies over the three rounds.
"We played another really solid team round of golf today in the toughest conditions we've seen this fall," Green Wave head coach Stew Burke said. "Jenny [Rosenberg] and Hanna [Liu] played great to shoot under par in the rain. Carlota [Palacios] had a great finish in an elite field. We've now got two weeks at home to prepare and qualify to finish strong at our final event of the Fall season."
Junior Jennifer Rosenberg ended the tournament tied for 57th at seven-over 223. She posted her best round of the tournament in the final round with a one-under 71 to go along with her six-over 78 and two-over 74 in the first and second rounds, respectively. Rosenberg tallied six birdies over the three rounds.
Sophomore Isabella Cardenas placed tied for 79th at 12-over 228. She closed the tournament with two-straight rounds at three-over 75. Cardenas opened the tournament with a score of six-over 78. The Cali, Colombia, native registered six birdies over the three rounds of play.
Freshman Hanna Liu posted her best score of the tournament in the final round with a one-under 71. She had five birdies on the tournament, four of which came in the final round. Liu finished tied for 81st overall at 13-over 229.
Freshman Sandra Vazquez placed 85th with a score of 14-over 230. Her best round came with a two-over 74 in the first round. She had six birdies on the tournament.
Michigan State took the team title with a total score of 12-under 852, while the Spartans' Valery Plata won the individual championship at 11-under 205.
The Green Wave will be back in action at the Sands Bahamas Invitational from Oct. 28-30 in Paradise Island, Bahamas.
