Â
All eight teams will play on Tuesday, with UConn-Houston kicking things off at 8 a.m. CT followed by ECU-Wichita State. The tournament is double elimination, as the two teams left standing will play a single game final Sunday at 11 a.m. CT.
Â
Tulane finished the regular season with a 31-24 overall record, going 12-11 in the American Athletic Conference. The Green Wave were 22-14 at home, while going 7-9 away from Greer Field at Turchin Stadium. Tulane was 2-1 in the only neutral site tournament of the season in North Carolina.
Â
The team closed the year with an 8-6 victory over the UConn Huskies last Saturday, taking the finale after dropping the first two games of the series on Thursday and Friday.
Â
Tulane will be led into the conference tournament by 2019 American Athletic Conference Baseball Player of the Year and first team all-conference selection Kody Hoese. Hoese finished the regular season batting .388 at the plate with 87 hits, 60 RBI and 69 runs scored, with his 23 home runs setting a new league record.
Â
Hoese was one of four Green Wave players to earn all-conference honors, with redshirt senior pitcher Kaleb Roper, sophomore catcher Frankie Niemann and freshman outfielder Hudson Haskin all earning second team all-conference selections.
Â
Tulane has qualified for the championship in each of the five seasons of the event, with a 4-8 record in the tournament.
Â
The Green Wave and Knights squared off May 3-5 at Greer Field at Turchin Stadium, with Tulane taking the opener 6-2, before dropping the second game 4-2 and third game 5-2. The last time the two teams met in the conference tournament, UCF defeated Tulane 8-3 back in 2017.
