
Tulane Dominates Loyola in Exhibition Game

NEW ORLEANS – The Tulane University women's basketball team will enter the 2021-22 regular season on a high note following a convincing 79-54 exhibition win over Uptown rival Loyola-New Orleans Monday evening inside Avron B. Fogelman Arena in the Devlin Fieldhouse.
Four players posted double digits in the scoring column for the Green Wave as Kaila Anderson led the way with 12 points on 4-of-7 shooting from beyond the arc. Moon Ursin followed with 11 points to go along with seven rebounds and four steals in her Olive and Blue debut. Rounding out the top scorers for Tulane were Arsula Clark and Dynah Jones who each posted 10 points.
As a team, Tulane held Loyola to just 37.7 percent shooting, including just 29.4 percent from beyond the arc. The Green Wave connected at a 38.4 percent clip from the field for the game and boasted a commanding 52-34 advantage on the glass.
Tulane forced the Wolf Pack into 23 turnovers in the contest turning those into 27 points on the offensive side of the ball. Ursin's four steals led the team while four of her teammates also finished with multiple steals.
The Wolf Pack took the early lead 6-2 to open the first quarter, but after withstanding the initial surge from Loyola Tulane made its move outscoring the Wolf Pack 13-7 to close the opening frame with a 15-13 lead.
Tulane continued to battle into the second quarter, as it opened a 10-point lead with just under four minutes to go in the first half (32-22). The Green Wave hit the locker room with a 39-27 advantage.
Anderson led all Tulane scorers in the opening 20 minutes, as she scored all 12 of her points on 4-of-6 shooting from downtown.
The Green Wave put the game away in the third quarter, as they held the Wolfpack to just 6-of-14 shooting from the field and outscored Loyola 26-12 in the frame. Clark and Jones led all Green Wave scorers with six points each in the quarter.
In the final 10 minutes, the Wave shot 6-15 from the field and added 14 point to the scoreboard for a final score of 79-54.
The regular season begins for Tulane on November 9th when the team takes on Southeastern Louisiana at Fogelman in Devlin. The Green Wave and Lions will tip off at 12 p.m.
