Women's Tennis Drops Road Tilt at USF, 6-1

TAMPA, Fla. - The Tulane women's tennis team suffered a 6-1 road defeat against American Athletic Conference foe USF on Sunday afternoon at the USF Varsity Tennis Courts.
The Green Wave (9-8) were in a tight battle for the doubles point to begin the day, as the Bulls (7-10) collected a 6-1 win on court two. The Wave got back in the fight when Mackenzie Clark and Mary Caroline Meredith earned a 6-3 win on court one against Amelie Boy and Grace Schumacher. USF would hang onto its advantage on court three however for a 6-4 victory to take a 1-0 advantage into singles.
USF kept its momentum going in singles, winning the first set on five courts before winning in straight sets at No. 1, No. 2, No. 4 and No. 6, respectively, to clinch the match.
Freshman Kristen Borland got Tulane on the scoreboard on court five, battling back from a lost first set, 6-2, to win the second, 6-4. Borland on a third-set tiebreaker, 10-4, to complete the comeback.
Up next, the Green Wave play at Florida Gulf Coast University on Wednesday, March 31 at 9 a.m. (CT).
