Tulane Gears Up for Back-to-Back the Mid-Week Action

THE MATCHUPS

The Tulane University baseball team (6-1) returns to action Tuesday for the start of a five-game week, including two mid-week games and a three-game weekend series.
The Green Wave will finish out their five-game road trip at Southeastern Louisiana on Tuesday before returning home Wednesday to face Texas Southern.
The Green Wave is coming off a 13-5 win at No. 15 Louisiana Tech in their first road series of the season.
The first pitch on Tuesday is set for 6:00 p.m, while the first pitch on Wednesday is set for 6:30 p.m.
Both games will be aired live on ESPN + and can be heard on the Varsity Network App. Games one and three also can be heard on the radio by tuning into WRBH 88.3 FM.

AROUND THE HORN WITH THE WAVE

Tulane enters its matchup with Southeastern on a two-game winning streak.
The Green Wave currently own's the American Athletic Conference's most runs scored (52). Defensively, Tulane owns the best fielding percentage (988).
Through seven games, Tulane has been particularly impressive offensively with two outs. The Green Wave owns a .333 batting average with two outs and is hitting .400 with the bases loaded.
Ethan Groff leads the team with a .348 batting average. Groff was also the American Athletic Conference Player of the Week after his road performance at La Tech.
Tulane starter Dylan Carmouche leads the team in innings pitched, strikeouts and earned run average.

SERIES HISTORY (SLU)

Tulane's matchups with Southeastern Louisiana will mark the 119th all-time meeting between the two programs.
The Green Wave owns a 78-40 all-time series lead.

SCOUTING SOUTHEASTERN LOUISIANA

The Lions enter the game with the Green Wave with a 3-4 record after they dropped two of three in their series against the University of Alabama at Birmingham and a midweek win over LSU this past Wednesday.
Their next five games following their match-up with Tulane, will all be against top 25 ranked opponents.
The Lions pitching has opened 2022 on a high note, as it has combined for 66 strikeouts.
Rhett Rosevear and Bryce Grizzaffi have led the Lion's offense through seven games. Rosevear hitting .333 after recording a 3-for-5 day against UAB recording a home run and a triple, with two runs scored and one RBI in the two-hole. Grizzaffi the designated hitter is right behind him with a .320 batting average.

SCOUTING TEXAS SOUTHERN

The Tigers enter the game with the Green Wave with a perfect 6-3 record after they picked up their first three losses of the season this past weekend.
In their first five games of the 2022 season, Texas Southern outscored its opponents 82-10. Including opening the season with back-to-back double-digit shutouts.
The Tigers pitching has opened 2022 with an 8.71 ERA in 62.0 innings pitched.
Tyrese Clayborne and Jeremy Almaguer have led the Tiger's offense through nine games. Clayborne hitting .455 with three multi-hit games and five RBI. Almaguer opened the season with an eight-game hit streak, a six-game run scored streak and six-game RBI streak.

LAST TIME OUT

The Tulane University baseball team opened up an early lead and never looked back, as it held on for a 13-5 win over in-state rival Louisiana Tech in the weekend tiebreaker game on Sunday in Ruston.
The Green Wave plated four runs in the second and eight in the third opening up a convincing 12-0 lead. All 11 of the 12 Green Wave's runs came with at least one out and eight came with two outs in the inning.
The Bulldogs would not go quietly, as they fought back with three runs in the fifth and two in the sixth to trim Tulane's lead, but couldn't dig out of the hole.
In the ninth, Tulane would bring in Grant Siegel who would put away the final three outs with a line out and a fielder's choice double-play.

TULANE STARTS HOT

Tulane's bats stayed hot through last week, outscoring 25-17 in four games
Five Green Wave hitters had three or more hits in the series as they recorded a .313 average as a group. Ethan Groff led the pack, going six-for-twelve with four RBIs on the weekend. Aviles' performance earned him the AAC's Player of the Week.

JEWETT WELCOMES 21 NEW PLAYERS

Earlier this fall, Travis Jewett announced the addition of 21 members of the 2021 recruiting class.
The 2021 class marks the sixth under Jewett.
Joining the Green Wave for the 2021 season will be: Landry Alligood, Teo Banks, Kyle Beaty, Seth Beckstead, Dylan Carmouche, Adam Ebling, Brady Hebert, Cam Van Hoorebeke, Brennan Lambert, Jackson Linn, Brady Marget, Michael Massey, Tracy Mitchem, Brayden Morrow, Carter Robinson, Cristian Sanchez, Gavin Schulz, Grant Siegel, Ben Tate, Jonah Wachter and Chandler Welch.
Thirteen members of the 2021 class are true freshman.
Five members come to Tulane by way of junior college.
Three members come by way of D1 institutions. Including transfer Dylan Carmouche, who was a member of the reigning national champions Mississippi State.
