
Tulane Baseball Hosts Dayton for Final Non-Conference Series

NEW ORLEANS – The Tulane University baseball team (14-7-1) is hosting the University of Dayton (8-9) for a three-game series this weekend inside Greer Field at Turchin Stadium.

The showdown is Tulane's final non-conference series of the season and wraps up an eight-game homestand, the longest of the season.Â

THE MATCHUP
First pitches are schedule for 6:30 p.m. on Friday, 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, and 12:00 p.m. on Sunday.

The matchup can be viewed on ESPN+ and can be heard on WRBH 88.3 FM.
Â
Tulane won the only all-time matchup between the two clubs on March 14th, 1995.

HIGHLIGHTING THE WAVE
Tulane is 4-1 in weekend series this weekend including series wins over Mississippi State and LA Tech.

Tulane is currently second in NCAA Division I baseball in doubles with 62 through 22 games. The Wave trails Tennessee by only two doubles.

The Green Wave hits .270 as a group and has a 4.27 ERA as a pitching staff.

Freshman Grant Siegel touts a 0.39 ERA accumulated over 23.0 innings of work. The right-hander has the sixth-lowest ERA in the nation.

Redshirt sophomore Ethan Groff leads the Green Wave in hits (31), runs scored (25), RBIs (17), home runs (3), and doubles (11). Groff is tied for seventh in the nation in two-baggers.

Freshman outfielder Jackson Linn has a .433 average over 30 at-bats and has a six-game hitting streak going into the weekend.

LAST TIME OUT
Tulane defeated Southeastern 7-6 on Wednesday inside GFATS.Â

Graduate student Carter Robinson had a strong outing and got his second win of the season. The righty tossed 5.0 innings and struck out six while giving up just two earned runs.Â

Sophomore Chase Engelhard collected two RBI singles to power the offense.

SCOUTING THE FLYERS
Dayton is coming off being swept by Michigan in Ann Arbor last weekend. The Flyers trip to New Orleans concludes a stretch of 20 games where 19 will have been played on the road.Â

Dayton has collected series wins over North Carolina A&T, Evansville, and Belmont.
The Flyers pitching staff has a 5.51 ERA and the batters hit .221 as a group.

Senior catcher Jay Curtis leads the club in average (.344), hits (21), and doubles (7).

Left-handed junior Ryan Steinhauer has been a standout on the Flyers' pitching staff so far this season. He has a 2.21 ERA in four starts.
