NEW ORLEANS – The Tulane University baseball team (20-9-1) will welcome the University of South Florida (18-11) to Greer Field at Turchin Stadium for a three-game set this weekend.

The Green Wave is looking to build on last weekend's sweep of Memphis in the first conference series of the season.

THE MATCHUP
First pitches are schedule for 6:30 p.m. on Friday, 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, and 1:00 p.m. on Sunday.Â

The series can be viewed on ESPN+ and can be heard on WRBH 88.3 FM.
Â
Tulane leads the all-time series 37-26. The last time these two teams faced off, the Bulls eliminated the Wave in the AAC Tournament on March 29, 2021.Â

The past two season, the Tulane vs. USF series has been canceled due to COVID-19. The last time the two sides played a weekend series was in 2019 when the Wave swept the Bulls in GFATS.

HIGHLIGHTING THE WAVE
Tulane is currently first in the AAC and has won four straight, outscoring opponents 45-13 in the stretch.

The Green Wave hits .271 as a club and the pitching staff touts a 4.17 ERA as a group.Â

Redshirt sophomore Ethan Groff leads the club in average, hitting at a .432 clip. The outfielder is on a ten-game hitting streak, has scored 12 runs in his last four games, and is tenth in the nation in doubles with 14. He is also 17th in the nation in runs scored with 37.

Redshirt senior Luis Aviles has been on a tear at the plate and has gone 19-for-32 in his last eight games. Aviles has raised his average from .277 to .381, has four games with three hits, and has two multi-HR games in the span.

Freshman Grant Siegel (5-0) has a 1.00 ERA over 36.0 innings of work, the tenth best ERA in the nation, and second best for a freshman. Siegel has struck out 38 batters while only walking five.

SCOUTING THE BULLS
The Bulls were 5-0 in weekend series before getting swept by UCF last weekend. USF has played the majority of its games at home where the club has a 16-7 record. The Bulls are 2-4 on the road.Â

Sophomore Drew Brutcher and redshirt sophomore Carmine Lane have led the way offensively for the Bulls. Brutcher is hitting .337 with ten home runs and 27 runs scored. Lane is hitting .325 with seven home runs, 11 doubles, and 36 RBIs.

Redshirt sophomore Orion Kerkering (4-2) has a 2.20 ERA over 41.0 innings of work for the Bulls. Kerkering has established himself as the Friday starter and has struck out 56 batters this season, good for 30th in the nation.Â
LAST TIME OUT
The Green Wave cruised to a 19-5, seven-inning, victory over Southern University on Wednesday in Baton Rouge.Â

Groff and Aviles combined for six hits, eight runs scored, eight RBIs, and three home runs at the top of the lineup. Bennett Lee, Trevor Minder, and Jared Hart all added two RBIs each.

Freshman Chandler Welch went 5.0 innings and allowed just two runs, one earned while striking out three.
