
Volleyball Drops to 0-2 in Conference Play

NEW ORLEANS — The Tulane University volleyball team (5-8) dropped to 0-2 in American Athletic Conference play after a four-set loss (26-28, 25-16, 24-26, 21-25) to Cincinnati.
The match was the league-opener for the Bearcats as they improved to 3-8 overall.
The Green Wave offense hit .300 in the match and held the Bearcats to a .307 attack percentage. Outside hitter Amarachi Osuji led the Wave with 17 kills, hitting .256 overall. Osuji also claimed a total of 18.5 points.
Fellow outside hitter Melissa Kolurbasi also got in her fair share of kills with 11 and a .273 hitting percentage. Kolurbasi also claimed two digs and an assist with the addition of one solo block. The Green Wave saw offensive power from middle blockers Kayla Kaiser, who hit an excellent .364 with 10 kills.
Libero Jillian Dits carried the defensive duties with 17 digs and nine assists. Senior setter Kate Van Houten moved the ball with grace, tallying 41 assists, 8 kills and four digs.
The Green Wave dropped the match posting 58 kills, 54 assists, 8 aces, 52 digs, five blocks and a 42.3% passing rate.
Tulane will be back in action next weekend when it hits the road to face Temple. The match is set for 7 p.m. central time.
