
No. 22 Bowling On the Road This Weekend at Motiv Ladyjack Classic

New Orleans – After traveling to Florida to participate in the Destination Orlando Tournament last time out from Oct. 27-29, the No. 22 ranked Tulane University bowling team stays on the road to participate in the Motiv Ladyjack Classic in Kenosha, Wisconsin this weekend at Sheridan Lanes. The tournament starts at 10:35 a.m. CT on Friday, 9:25 a.m. CT on Saturday and then 8:30 a.m. CT on Sunday.
The other 15 teams in the field this weekend includes 10 ranked teams. Among those competing are No. 2 Arkansas State, Aurora, Carthage College, No. 7 Jacksonville State, RV Lewis University, Marian University, No. 9 Maryville, No.14 McKendree, No. 3 Nebraska, No. 13 Newman University, No. 5 Stephen F. Austin, No. 20 University of Wisconsin-Whitewater, Valparaiso, No. 1 Vanderbilt and No. 6 Youngstown State.
The Motiv Ladyjack Classic will follow the standard 13-match rotation this weekend. There will be five Baker matches on Friday beginning at 10:35 a.m. CT and total pin falls will determine the winners in each head-to-head match. Five traditional matches will follow on Saturday starting at 9:25 a.m. CT with pin fall again determining the winners. The total pins from the first 10 matches of the tournament will determine seeding for the bracket play on Sunday, which again begins at 8:30 a.m. CT. The bracket matches will be contested in a best-of-seven Baker format
Friday, 10:35 a.m. – Five Baker matches
Saturday, 9:25 a.m. – Five traditional matches
Sunday, 8:30 a.m. – Three best-of-seven Baker matches
On the first day of competition, Tulane starts against Vanderbilt in lanes 17-18. In match two, the program squares off with Nebraska in lanes 13-14. In the third match, Tulane takes on Valparaiso in lanes 5-6. The fourth match sees the Green Wave against Newman in lanes 15-16. The fifth match is a Tulane and Youngstown State matchup in lanes 19-20.
The second day of the tournament for traditional play sees Tulane starting the day with Carthage in lanes 9-10 in the sixth match. In the second match of the day, and the seventh match overall, the program takes on McKendree in lanes 21-22. In the third match of the day, and the eighth overall, Tulane and Marian square off in lanes 17-18. The fourth match of the day, and the ninth overall, sees Tulane and Lewis competing against each other in lanes 5-6. The fifth match of the day, and the 10th overall, is against Stephen F. Austin in lanes 5-6.
The Green Wave will compete against six fellow Conference USA school at the tournament in Stephen F. Austin, Arkansas State, Vanderbilt, Youngstown State, Valparaiso and Jacksonville State.
The first and second place teams will be awarded the team awards.
The six individuals that accumulate the highest pin fall totals during the traditional team games will earn a position on the all-tournament team. The MVP award is given to the individual with the highest tournament average.
Last time out at the Destination Orlando Tournament, the program finished ninth overall with a 7-6 record. The program had 13,650 pins and averaged 195.0 pins. Sofiia Druchyna was the team's top finisher in 26th place with her 1027 pins and an average of 205.40. Katharina Mente also finished in the top-30 as she placed 29thh with 1,020 pins and an average of 204.
On the season, Kristen Derr has the team's most pins at 4,178 and average at 198.9. She also has the highest game on the squad with her 266 at the SWIBC Tournament.
This year's Tulane roster features six returners in Morgan Gitlitz, Yarelis Alvarez, Sofiia Druchyna, Katharina Mente, Mia Stolakis, Cassidy Williams plus four newcomers in Juanelyz Solla, Emma Fetterman, Kristen Derr and Linnea Holcomb.
Following this weekend's action, the next time the program is back on lanes is after the holidays when bowling travels to Las Vegas to participate in the Stormin' Blue and White Classic at the South Point Bowling Plaza from Jan. 8-10.
