
Rainbows Complete Sweep of Green Wave

HONOLULU, HI – Hawaii's pitching staff held visiting Tulane to just one run for the third straight game as the host Rainbows won 5-1 Sunday afternoon to sweep the Green Wave at Les Murakami Stadium in Honolulu.

UH's 2023 record improved to 12-8, while TU's dipped to 6-18.

Two-way player Ben Ziegler-Namoa (3-1) was credited with the win in relief for Hawaii, as he allowed an unearned run on one hit and one walk. Closer Connor Harrison got his fifth save, surrendering two hits in the eighth and ninth innings, with two strikeouts.

Tulane starter Ricky Castro (2-3) took the loss but turned in a commendable performance on the mound, yielding two runs on six hits with five strikeouts and no walks in six innings.

Hawaii third baseman Kyson Donohue had a two-run homer to right in the eighth inning to lead the offensive effort, while Ziegler-Namoa went 3-for-4 with a seventh-inning RBI single. Right fielder Sean Rimmer added a fifth-inning solo blast down the left field line.

Center fielder Matt Wong plated Ziegler-Namoa with a run-scoring single to center in the first frame for the game's first tally.

The Green Wave's lone run scored when left fielder Jacob LaPrairie came home on a throwing error by Hawaii's Jordan Donahue in the fifth inning. First baseman Brady Marget also went 2-for-4 at the plate, lacing his fifth double of the season in the second.

Right fielder Teo Banks stole his third base of 2023 in the seventh inning.

The Green Wave returns to Greer Field at Turchin Stadium for four games this week to host New Orleans Wednesday at 6 p.m., followed by a three-game series with Memphis over the weekend.
