LOS ANGELES, CA – The Tulane baseball team battled 12th-ranked UCLA to a draw through four innings, but the host Bruins scored eight runs from the fifth inning on and won 10-3 Friday evening at Jackie Robinson Stadium.

UCLA moved to 7-2 overall, while Tulane's record sank to 1-9.

Bruin starter Jake Brooks (2-1) went six innings to get the victory, surrendering two runs (one earned) on four hits and two walks with four strikeouts.

Tulane's Dylan Carmouche (0-2) was tagged with the loss, allowing six runs (five earned) on six hits and four walks with four strikeouts of his own.

Shortstop Cody Schrier had a big game for the home team, going 3-for-4 with three runs scored and four RBI, which included a three-run homer to left in the fifth inning. Second baseman Duce Gourson also had two hits and two walks.

The Green Wave answered two first-inning UCLA runs with single tallies in the third and fourth innings. Second baseman Michael Lombardi started the scoring when he cut the advantage in half, coming home on a Bruin throwing error.

Third baseman Simon Baumgardt then tied it as his double to right center drove in left fielder Jackson Linn.

The hosts scored the game's next eight runs before Tulane pinch-hitter Jake LaPrairie knocked in James Agabedis III with a single to center in the top of the ninth for the final margin.

The Green Wave is right back in action Saturday when it travels across town to Dedeaux Field to take on USC at 4:30 p.m. CT. The Trojans are now 4-4-1 after beating Sacramento State 9-8 Friday evening.

Tulane and the Hornets will also play one another on Sunday at Jackie Robinson Stadium in a game set for noon CT.
