NEW ORLEANS – Tulane hosts Houston for its last home conference weekend on Greer Field at Turchin Stadium on Friday (6 p.m.), Saturday (6 p.m.) and Sunday (1 p.m.).

The Green Wave enters the game at 14-34 overall and 7-11 in the American Athletic Conference. The Cougars are 28-20 and sit atop the league standings at 12-5.

SCOUTING THE COUGARS
Zach Arnold leads the team with a .356 batting average, a 1.032 OPS, 43 runs scored, 62 hits, 10 home runs, 100 total bases, a .575 slugging percentage and a .457 on-base percentage. Malachi Lott has 12 doubles, while Anthony Tulimero paces the squad with 41 RBI. Alex Lopez has walked 30 times to go with Brandon Burkel's 19 stolen bases.

In last weekend's series against Wichita State, Houston started Josh Ekness (2-2, 5.37 ERA) and Dan Wright (2-2, 8.65 ERA) on Friday and Saturday, while Sunday's game was canceled due to inclement weather. Cade Citelli (3-4, 6.25 ERA) made the Sunday start against Rice the previous weekend. On the season, the Cougars have allowed a .275 batting average against with 413 strikeouts versus 235 walks.

Houston, who has not lost an AAC series this season, is currently ranked No. 30 in the nation according to the Collegiate Baseball Newspaper. It is the first time Houston has been ranked in a regular season poll since 2018.

LAST TIME OUT FOR THE GREEN WAVE
Visiting UCF scored all 10 of its runs in the first five innings and kept Tulane's bats mostly quiet as the Knights won the series with a 10-3 victory Sunday afternoon on Greer Field at Turchin Stadium.

UCF starter Cameron Leiter (2-2) struck out 11 and worked around six walks in five innings, allowing two runs on two hits. He teamed with relievers Jacob Marlowe and Kris Sosnowski to whiff 16 Tulane batters.

Tulane starter Billy Price (0-2) went three innings in the loss, giving up three runs on three hits with three strikeouts and one walk. The Green Wave used six pitchers, with relievers Michael Fowler and Blake Mahmood finishing strong. The duo yielded just one run through the contest's last four and two-thirds innings with eight strikeouts between them.

Seven home runs were hit between the two teams, with UCF shortstop Drew Faurot belting a two-run shot in the second and a solo homer in the fifth. Center fielder John Rhys Plumlee swatted a two-run bolt to left in the fourth, while right fielder Matt Cedarburg did the same in the fifth.

For Tulane, left fielder Brady Hebert and center fielder Teo Banks crushed back-to-back solo shots in the bottom of the fifth to get the home team on the scoreboard. Jackson Linn added another in the bottom of the ninth for the game's final margin.
