Green Wave Battle UAB Blazers on the Road Wednesday Night

NEW ORLEANS – Tulane University men's basketball (11-5, 2-2) will go for back-to-back road victories at it visits UAB (10-6, 2-1) on Wednesday night for the first time since 2014. The Green Wave enters the matchup with the top offense in the American Athletic Conference leading the league in scoring with 87.19 points per game and field goal percentage connecting at 50.4 percent from the floor.

The game between the Green Wave and the Blazers is set to tipoff at 7 p.m. on ESPN+. Fans can also listen to the action live on the Tulane Sports Network from Learfield on 104.1 The Spot with the Voice of the Green Wave Corey Gloor or streaming on the Tulane Athletics App and The Varsity Network App.

This marks the 38th all-time meeting between the Green Wave and the Blazers with UAB leading the series 24-13. Tulane holds a 6-12 record on the road against UAB including an 86-80 victory in the latest meeting on February 15, 2014. The last time the Wave lost to the Blazers in Birmingham came in an 81-73 defeat on February 22, 2012.

In its last time out, Tulane rallied to erase a 14-point second half deficit and defeat Tulsa on the road 94-87 in overtime on Sunday. Kevin Cross hit the game-tying basket with nine seconds remaining in regulation to force overtime before adding eight of his career-high 28 points in the extra period. Jaylen Forbes also notched his second-straight 20-point game with 20 points including four made threes.

Cross landed his third AAC Weekly Honor Roll selection of the season on Monday after averaging 24.0 points, 11.0 rebounds, and 2.5 assists for the Green Wave last week. The senior forward also excelled at the charity stripe shooting 93.8 percent (15-16) from the free throw line.

Away from Uptown this season Tulane holds a 2-1 record in true road games with the two victories coming 94-87 at Tulsa and 89-81 at Fordham. The Green Wave is averaging 79.7 points on 45.8 percent shooting in those three contests while allowing opponents to score 79.3 points per game.

UAB enters the matchup with a 10-6 record overall and a 2-1 record in league play after falling on the road to No. 24 Florida Atlantic 86-73 on Sunday, January 14. The Blazers are led by four players averaging double figures in scoring. Eric Gaines leads the team at 12.4 points per game followed by Lendeborg at 12.0 points. Javian Davis averages 10.6 points and Efrem "Butta" Johnson adds 10.0.

Following the matchup in Birmingham, the Green Wave will return home to Uptown to host No. 10 Memphis on Sunday, January 21. The game between Tulane and the Tigers will tipoff at 12 p.m. on ESPN2.
