Tulane Faces Road Test at Furman Friday Night

NEW ORLEANS – Tulane University men's basketball hits the road for the first time this season to square off with the Furman Paladins on Friday night in Greenville, South Carolina. The Green Wave will aim to remain unbeaten and begin the year 4-0 for the first time since the 2020-21 campaign.
The game between the Green Wave and the Paladins is set to tipoff at 6 p.m. CT on ESPN+. Fans can also listen to the action live on the Tulane Sports Network from Learfield on Heaven 106.7 Paul Boron or streaming on the Tulane Athletics App and The Varsity Network App.
This marks the second all-time regular season meeting between Tulane and Furman with the Green Wave winning the previous matchup 117-110 in double overtime at home last season on December 14, 2023. The Green Wave holds an 18-7 record all-time against current teams from the Southern Conference and is 7-2 overall in true road games against those teams with the last win coming at Mercer 70-52 on December 6, 1993.
In its last time out, Tulane rolled past Alcorn State 84-51 on Monday, November 11, behind a stellar shooting night from beyond the arc. The Green Wave knocked down 15 three-pointers in the contest marking only the fourth time Tulane has made at least 15 shots from beyond the arc in program history. Kaleb Banks continued his hot start to the season leading all scorers with a career-high 25 points to go with seven rebounds. Freshman Kam Williams also tallied his first career double-digit scoring effort with 13 points while adding three blocks and three steals.
Through games played on November 13 the Green Wave ranks in the top 25 nationally in five different categories. Tulane has excelled defensively rating second in field goal percentage defense (30.2), seventh in scoring defense (52.3), 15th in blocks (7.0), and 17th in three-point percentage defense (22.1). The Wave has also shot the ball well from beyond the arc ranking 23rd in the country in threes per game (11.7).
Furman enters the matchup unbeaten at 3-0 following a 78-69 victory at home over Jacksonville on Monday, November 11. The Paladins are paced by six different players averaging double figures in scoring this season with PJay Smith at 17.5 points per game and Tommy Humphries at 15.0 points per contest leading the way.
As a team through the first three games of the season Furman has made its mark from beyond the three-point line. The Paladins rank in the top 10 in the country in both three-point field goal percentage (7th – 46.3) and three-point field goals per game (9th – 12.7). Their sharp shooting from distance has led Furman to average 86.0 points per game so far this season.
Following the road showdown against Furman, the Green Wave will return to Uptown to host Bethune-Cookman on Tuesday, November 19. The game between Tulane and the Wildcats is set for 6:30 p.m. on ESPN+.
