Tulane Squares Off with Florida State for Saturday Matinee

SUNRISE, Fla. – Tulane University men's basketball will take the court Saturday afternoon, December 14, to face Florida State in the AutoNation Orange Bowl Basketball Classic in Sunrise, Florida. The matchup between the Green Wave and the Seminoles will take place in Amerant Bank Arena, the home of the Florida Panthers of the National Hockey League.

Saturday's contest is set to tipoff at 3:30 p.m. CT on the ACC Network. Fans can also listen to the action live on the Tulane Sports Network from Learfield on 106.1 The Ticket and Heaven 106.7 with the voice of the Green Wave Corey Gloor or streaming on the Tulane Athletics App and The Varsity Network App.

This marks the 39th all-time regular season meeting between Tulane and Florida State with the Green Wave trailing the series 12-26 with losses in each of the last three matchups. In neutral site contests against the Seminoles the Wave holds an 0-7 record including a 53-72 defeat in the latest neutral site game in Tampa, Florida, on Dec. 10, 2017. The last time Tulane beat Florida State was Dec. 5, 1995, by a final score 78-77 in New Orleans.

The Green Wave is 98-196 all-time against current teams from the ACC including 5-29 in neutral site contests. Tulane's' last win over a current ACC team came against Cal in a neutral site matchup at the SoCal Challenge last season while the Bears were still members of the Pac-12. The Wave won that game 84-81 on Nov. 22, 2023, in San Juan Capistrano, California.

In its last time out, Tulane snapped its five-game losing streak with a dominant 86-58 victory at home over Southern Miss on Tuesday, Dec. 10. The Green Wave set the tone by forcing a season-high 21 turnovers and converting those takeaways into 23 points on the other end. Kaleb Banks tallied 18 points to go with five rebounds to lead four players in double figures for the Wave. Gregg Glenn III also recorded his second-straight double-double finishing with 16 points and 10 rebounds.

Florida State enters the matchup on a two-game losing streak after falling to North Carolina State 74-84 in overtime on Saturday, December 7, to move to 7-3 on the season. The Seminoles have excelled defensively this season ranking in the top 30 nationally in blocks, steals, three-point percentage defense, and turnovers forced. Through 10 games Florida State rates 15th in the country with 10.0 steals per game and 10th in turnovers forced per game at 17.0.

The duo of Jamir Watkins and Malique Ewin lead the way for the Seminoles so far this season. Watkins paces the team in scoring with 17.7 points per game while Ewin adds 12.4 points and a team leading 6.9 rebounds per contest.

Following the matchup against Florida State, the Green Wave will return to Uptown to wrap up its non-conference slate against Dillard on Friday, December 20. The game between Tulane and the Bleu Devil is scheduled to tipoff at 6:30 p.m. on ESPN+.
