
Golden Eagles Control Late Innings in Tuesday Triumph

The Golden Eagles improved to 26-15 overall, while the Green Wave fell to 22-19.
USM second baseman Nick Monistere went 4-for-6 with a double and four RBI. Left fielder Davis Gillespie, who scored three times, also doubled. Third baseman Gabe Broadus posted a 3-for-4 effort.
Tulane ripped six doubles, including two by third baseman James Agabedis III, who went 4-for-4. Designated hitter Brady Marget went 2-for-5 with three RBI and first baseman Michael Lombardi recorded two hits as well.
The two teams combined to use 12 pitchers in the contest with USM's Cole Boswell (1-0) picking up the victory. He went an inning and two-thirds and just allowed two hits.
Tulane reliever Logan Hurd (0-1) did not record an out in a losing effort. He allowed a run on a hit with two walks.
The Green Wave did post 12 strikeouts to just three by USM. The Golden Eagles also stranded 17 baserunners compared to just eight by Tulane.
Tulane issued 11 walks, nine more than Southern Miss.
Green Wave second baseman Connor Rasmussen, who went 1-for-5 Tuesday, has reached base in 17 consecutive games.
The Olive and Blue steps back into American Athletic Conference action this weekend when it travels to Wichita State (21-21, 7-8 AAC) for a three-game series that begins Friday. The Shockers lost 3-1 at #18 Oklahoma on Tuesday.
