Green Wave Meets Owls on Semifinal Saturday

CLEARWATER, FL – Third-seeded Tulane, the defending American Athletic Conference champions, will play sixth-seeded Florida Atlantic Saturday in the semifinals of the 2024 AAC Tournament at BayCare Ballpark in Clearwater.

The start time will be approximately 12:45 p.m. ET/11:45 a.m. CT (or 47 minutes following the conclusion of top-seeded East Carolina and fourth-seeded Wichita State).Â

The Olive and Blue (33-24) arrived in the semifinals via a 14-2, 7-inning win over the Owls (28-28) in the tournament opener on Tuesday followed by a 7-5 win over seventh-seeded Charlotte Thursday.

If FAU defeats Tulane on Saturday, the two teams will play a second game later in the day for a spot in Sunday's championship game.

The Owls eliminated the 49ers on Friday with a 10-8 win after doing the same to second-seeded UTSA on Wednesday with a 12-5 victory.Â

Saturday's game will be carried on ESPN+ with Ryan Urquhart, Sean Salisbury and Savanna Collins handling the broadcast duties.

Voice of the Green Wave Corey Gloor will also have the call on the Tulane Sports Network from Learfield. The game will air on 88.3 FM WRBH, along with the Tulane Athletics and Varsity Network apps. Airtime for Saturday's game is scheduled for 11:15 a.m. CT (subject to change).

Florida Atlantic's Christian Adams (.346) paces the Owls in batting average, OPS (.993), runs scored (51), hits (71), total bases (108), slugging percentage (.527), walks (40) and on-base percentage (.466). John Schroeder has a team-high 14 doubles, two triples, 10 homers and 50 RBI. Spencer Rich (18) and Jalen DeBose (16) have combined for 32 of the squad's 63 stolen bases. Brando Leroux has been hit by 15 pitches to go with Andrew McKenna's five sacrifice flies and DeBose's six sacrifice bunts.

Tulane first baseman Brady Marget leads the team in batting average (.327), hits (74) and RBI (52). Catcher Colin Tuft has scored 64 runs, boasts a team-high 43 walks, .444 on-base percentage and 12 stolen bases. Center fielder Teo Banks paces the Green Wave in doubles (16), home runs (14), total bases (118) and HBP (20), while left fielder Jackson Linn leads the way in OPS (.979), triples (3) and slugging percentage (.633). Second baseman Connor Rasmussen has six sacrifice flies, while shortstop Marcus Cline leads the entire conference with 12 sacrifice bunts.
