Wave Visits Temple for Sunday Matinee

PHILADELPHIA – Tulane University men's basketball visits the City of Brotherly Love this weekend to square off against the Temple Owls on Sunday afternoon in the Liacouras Center. The Green Wave will aim to remain atop the American Athletic Conference and improve to 5-1 in league play to match the program's best start since beginning 5-1 in the 2022-23 season.

The matchup between the Wave and the Owls is set to tipoff at 1 p.m. CT on ESPNU. Fans can also listen to the action live on the Tulane Sports Network from Learfield on 106.1 The Ticket and Heaven 106.7 with the voice of the Green Wave Corey Gloor or streaming on the Tulane Athletics App and The Varsity Network App.

This marks the 24th all-time meeting between Tulane and Temple with the Green Wave trailing the series 9-14. Tulane has won each of the last three matchups against the Owls including a 92-80 victory in overtime at home last season on February 4, 2024. The Wave is 4-6 against Temple in Philadelphia with its last road win over the Owls coming on January 7, 2023, by a final score of 87-76.

So far at home this season the Wave holds an 8-2 record including a 2-0 mark in conference games. Tulane is averaging 81.6 points per game in Uptown on 46.0 percent shooting from the floor and 38.1 percent from beyond the arc. Kaleb Banks and Rowan Brumbaugh combined for 45 points to lead the offensive attack for the Wave while Gregg Glenn III also added a career-high 11 assists.

Temple enters the matchup with an 11-6 overall record and a 3-1 mark in conference play after an 88-81 upset victory at home over No. 18 Memphis on Sunday. Transfer Jamal Mashburn Jr. leads four players averaging double figures in scoring for the Owls. Mashburn Jr. is scoring 20.7 points per game which rates third in the conference and ninth in the nation.

The Owls have been aggressive attacking the rim this season leading The American in free throws made and attempted per game. Temple ranks sixth nationally with 19.3 free throws made per game on 26.8 attempts per contest which ranks seventh in the country.
