Tulane Visits UAB for Tuesday Night Conference Clash

NEW ORLEANS – Tulane University men's basketball will look to start American Athletic Conference play 3-0 for the first time since joining the league in 2014 as it faces UAB on the road Tuesday night. The last time the Green Wave started conference competition with three consecutive wins in any league was the 1996-97 season.
The matchup between the Wave and the Blazers is set to tipoff at 6:30 p.m. on ESPN+. Fans can also listen to the action live on the Tulane Sports Network from Learfield on 106.1 The Ticket and Heaven 106.7 with the voice of the Green Wave Corey Gloor or streaming on the Tulane Athletics App and The Varsity Network App.
This marks the 40th all-time meeting between Tulane and UAB with the Green Wave trailing the series 13-26. The Blazers won both meetings between the conference foes last season including an 83-69 victory in Birmingham, Alabama, on January 17, 2024. Tulane holds a 6-13 record on the road against UAB with its last win coming on February 15, 2014, by a final score of 86-80.
After the first week of conference play the Green Wave leads the AAC in scoring margin (+22.00), blocks (4.50), assists (19.00), steals (11.50), turnover margin (+4.50), assist-to-turnover ratio (1.73), and defensive rebounds per game (30.50). Junior Gregg Glenn III leads the league through two conference games averaging 6.00 per contest.
In its last time out, Tulane rolled over UTSA 92-63 on Saturday in its first home American Athletic Conference game to start league play 2-0 for the first time since the 2021-22 campaign. The Green Wave shot a season-high 63.5 percent from the field and dished out a season-best 25 assists in the victory over the Roadrunners. Kaleb Banks and Rowan Brumbaugh led the offensive attack for the Wave as Banks finished with 24 points while Brumbaugh added 23.
Banks and freshman Kam Williams both earned AAC weekly honors following the first week of league action. Banks garnered honorable mention after averaging 22.5 points, 5.5 rebounds, 2.5 blocks, and 2.5 steals. Williams was named Freshman of the Week after posting 12.0 points and 6.0 rebounds per game.
UAB enters the matchup with an 8-7 overall record and a 1-1 mark in conference play after defeating Tulsa 83-51 at home on January 4. The Blazers lead The American in scoring (85.07), scoring margin (+10.13), rebounding (41.40), rebound margin (+7.40), and assist-to-turnover ratio (1.44).
Senior Yaxel Lendeborg leads the Blazers in scoring, rebounds, assists, steals, and blocks this season. The preseason AAC Player of the Year is averaging 15.8 points and a league-best 9.9 rebounds per game.
Following the matchup at UAB, the Tulane will return home to host South Florida on Saturday, January 11. The game between Tulane and the Roadrunners is scheduled to tipoff at 1 p.m. on ESPN+.
