TULANE GAME NOTES
New Orleans, LA - The Tulane baseball team (11-4) has a busy schedule on tap this week on Greer Field at Turchin Stadium as the program hosts a pair of midweek games starting on Tuesday, March 11, at 6:30 p.m. against Nicholls (8-9). The team then welcomes in Jackson State (9-3) on Wednesday, March 12, at 6:30 p.m.

All the games will be streamed on ESPN+. The Voice of the Green Wave, Corey Gloor, will call the action on Tuesday on the Tulane Sports Network from Learfield on 88.3 WRBH/Varsity Network while a TBA announcer will be on the call for the Wednesday on 88.3 WRBH/Varsity Network. Airtime for radio for all three games is 15 minutes before first pitch. *Note Depending on the results of the Tulane women's basketball games on Monday and/or Tuesday/Wednesday both games may be a streamed only on the Varsity Network.
Promotions
On Tuesday the promotion will be Double Play Tuesday plus $3 hot dogs. Wednesday will be Bark in the Park where the first 250 fans will receive free Tulane branded dog leashes.
Pitching Matchups
Tulane is expected to start Will Clements on Tuesday. The team is slated to go with a bullpen game on Wednesday.
The game starters on the mound for Nicholls and Jackson State have not been announced.
Scouting Nicholls
Nicholls is off to an 8-9 start this season after sweeping Texas A&M Corpus Christi over the weekend. The Colonels had lost seven in a row before last weekend. The program is being led by Karson Irvin who leads the team in RBIs (10) and runs (12) plus is second in hits (19). Chase Jans has totaled 20 hits and 10 runs scored. Jaden Collura has walked 14 times compared to just five strikeouts plus is hitting .320. Alec Sparks has been the club's top pitched with 27 strikeouts in 27.1 innings worked. The Colonels are 8-3 at home this season and 0-6 on the road. Head Coach Brent Haring is in his first year in charge of the program.
Series History
Tulane leads the all-time series with Nicholls 68-27. The Green Wave defeated the Colonels in all three matchups last season including a 3-0 victory in the Corvallis Regional last June to eliminate Nicholls from the 2024 NCAA Regional and defeated the Colonels by a 13-3 score on Feb. 25 earlier this season.
Against the Southland Conference
The home game against Nicholls is the third of nine games against the Southland Conference opponents this season for Tulane. The program defeated Southeastern Louisiana 5-3 on Feb. 19 in Hammond and Nicholls 13-3 on Feb. 25 to improve the team's all-time mark to 305-162 against current schools in the SLC.
Scouting Jackson State
The Tigers are 9-3 this season and have won five of the last six games. The program will play a pair of home games against Tougaloo on Tuesday before making the trip from Jackson, Miss. to New Orleans. Joseph Eichelberger leads the attack for the Tigers with 17 hits, five doubles, 17 RBIs and 25 total bases. Jordan McCladdie has scored 20 runs on 16 hits and sports a .372 batting average. Wilbert Perez leads the club with his two home runs plus has four doubles. Brandon Haston has been the top pitcher with a 1.32 ERA, a 1-0 record and 12 strikeouts in 13.2 innings worked. Jackson State is coached by Omar Johnson. Johnson is in his 19thh season leading the program and is 583-374-1 plus has lead the Tigers to a pair of NCAA Regionals and a winning campaign every season.

Tulane is 21-3 all-time against Jackson State in a series that started in 1982. The last time the teams met was in 2021 with the Green Wave earning a 10-7 victory.
Against the Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC)
Tulane is 72-6 all-time against current schools in the Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC). The team first met a SWAC opponent when the team took on and lost to Southern 1-0 in 1907. The team has the most wins against SWAC opponents against Southern with 29 with Jackson State's 21 victories being the second-most. The last time that Tulane faced off with a SWAC opponent was in 2024 when the team defeated Texas Southern by a 16-1 score on April 2.
Last Time Out
J.D. Rodriguez (1-1) started the game for Tulane (11-4) and surrendered two runs without registering an out. Blaise Wilcenski pitched three innings with two runs allowed and six strikeouts. Will Clements threw 0.2 scoreless with a strikeout. Julius Ejike-Charles also had 0.2 frames thrown with a strikeout. Grayson Smith allowed a run in his inning with a strikeout. Carter Benbrook threw 0.2 scoreless innings. Jacob Moore picked up a pair of strikeouts in his two innings. The Tulane offense was limited to four hits in the game with Jason Wachs, Michael Lombardi, Connor Rasmussen and Tanner Chun all having one. Chun had a two-run home run to get Tulane back in the game in the sixth inning.
Notables From North Dakota State Series
Tulane has now won three of the team's first four weekend series on the season. The six innings thrown from Trey Cehajic in the middle game of the series against the Bison were a career-high. Tulane is now 11-4 all-time against current schools in the Summit League including a record of 5-1 this season. Tulane has scored double figures in runs six times this season and allowed double figures in a pair.
Lombardi Named to AAC's Weekly Honor Roll
Michael Lombardi led Tulane to 3-1 record on the week including a series victory over North Dakota State over the weekend and became the team's third player named to the AAC Weekly Honor Roll this season on March 10. He hit .429 in the four games with six hits, three runs scored, a home run, six RBIs, 10 total bases, a .714 slugging percentage plus three walks compared to one strikeout with two stolen bases and an on-base percentage of .526. He also threw in a pair of games with four strikeouts and a save. His save was one where he entered the game against Long Beach State on Monday in the ninth inning with one out and runners on first and third with Tulane protecting the 3-2 lead. He struck out both batters to secure the Green Wave victory. On Friday night against North Dakota State, Lombardi tied the game with an infield single with the winning run also coming in on the play on the miss throw from the Bison.

After the midweeks on Tuesday and Wednesday, Tulane keeps the homestand going with a three-game weekend set against Xavier University (7-9) beginning on Friday at 6:30 p.m. followed by games on Saturday at 2 p.m. and Sunday at noon.
