TULANE GAME NOTES
New Orleans, LA - The Tulane baseball team (9-3), after five consecutive games on the road, returns home to Greer Field at Turchin Stadium for the start of a 12-game homestand and takes on North Dakota State (1-11) beginning on Friday evening, March 7, at 6:30 p.m. The teams play the second game of the series on Saturday, March 8, at 2 p.m. and conclude the set at 1 p.m. on Sunday, March 9.
Media
All the games will be streamed on ESPN+ with Ken Berthelot (pxp) and Joey Brockhoff (color) on the call on Friday and Saturday with Sunday's game being a radio simulcast. The Voice of the Green Wave, Corey Gloor, will call the action in the first and second games on the Tulane Sports Network from Learfield on 88.3 WRBH/Varsity Network (Friday & Saturday) while Ken Berthelot will be on the call for the third game (Sunday) on 88.3 WRBH/Varsity Network plus the radio simulcast on ESPN+. Airtime for radio for all three games is 15 minutes before first pitch.
Promotions
On Friday the promotion will be Baseball Bingo. Saturday is a Riptide's Kids Club Day where all Kids Club members receive free game admission and will be able to run the bases following the game. Sunday is the busiest promotion day of the weekend as it is Something in the Wave where the first 200 fans receive a free Batman Themed Shirt. Additionally, it is the second Riptide Kids Club Day of the weekend where all Kids Club members receive free game admission, will be to run the bases following the game and there will be a giveaway of collectible Tulane Baseball cards plus a postgame autograph session with Justin Bridgman, James Agabedis III, Julius Ejike-Charles, Nate Johnson, J.D. Rodriguez, Brennan Lambert, Tanner Chun, Alex Ainsworth, Henry Shuffler and Luc Fladda will also be held on the concourse behind home plate.
Pitching Matchups
Tulane is slated to start lefty Luc Fladda in the opener on Friday afternoon against the Bison. Fladda has been the team's Friday starter in each of the first three weekends of the season. He is 0-1 on the campaign with 23 strikeouts in 17.1 innings worked and only one walk. The 6-1 lefthander went 5-3 last year in his first season as a member of the Green Wave, sporting an earned run average of 4.77 with 61 strikeouts and 21 walks in 83 innings.
The second game on Saturday will see Tulane start 6-8 righty Trey Cehajic. Cehajic is 2-1 on the year with a 3.00 ERA with 14 strikeouts in 15 innings pitched. He worked as the team's Sunday starter in each of the first two weekends but moved up a day in the rotation for the series against Pepperdine. Cehajic hails from Shreveport, Louisiana and is in his second year with the program. As a junior he worked exclusively out of the bullpen in his 19 appearances. He placed second on the team with four saves while totaling 15 strikeouts in 27.1 innings thrown and a 0-2 record.
The Sunday starter for Tulane is to be determined at this point depending on the results and bullpen use in the two earlier games of the series.
North Dakota State is expected to start Nolan Johnson on Friday. Logan Knight on Saturday and a yet to be determined starter on Sunday. Johnson has worked as NDSU's Friday starter in each of the first three weekends and is 0-3 with 10.80 ERA. He has struck out 10 in 10 innings worked. Knight is 0-2 on the year with a 9.22 ERA and 10 strikeouts in 13.2 innings on the hill this season.
Scouting North Dakota State
North Dakota State is off to an 1-11 start and have lost five in a row after losing the weekend set against No. 20 Alabama and a pair of midweek games to No. 1 LSU. The team has surrendered double digit runs in nine games this year. The program has yet to play a home game and don't have one scheduled until taking on against South Dakota State on March 28 as the team plays 24 straight road games to start the campaign. Jake Schaffner has been the top hitter with his .362 batting average, 17 hits and 20 total bases. Davis Hamilton also is in double digits in runs (10) and hits (12) this season. Noah Gordon leads the squad with his nine RBIs plus two home runs. Colten Becker also has a pair of home runs. The Bison pitching staff have a team ERA of 11.37 and have walked 73 men in 91 innings with 73 strikeouts. Cade Wiegert had been the team's top reliever with a 3.00 ERA in his three appearances. The Bison are coached by Tyler Oakes. Oakes in his fourth year leading the program and has gone 47-24-1 in Summit League play. Overall, he is 75-90. The program was picked for fourth in the Summit League this season. The team's last appearance in the NCAA's came in 2021 as the program played in the Stanford Regional

This series is the first time that Tulane and North Dakota State have ever play on the diamond.
Against the Summit League
The Green Wave do sport a 9-3 all-time record against current schools in the Summit League including a record of 3-0 this season after the home sweep of Omaha to start the 2025 campaign.
Last Time Out
The Tulane baseball team (9-3) ended the team's California road trip on a positive note with a 3-2 victory over Long Beach State (5-7) on Monday night at Blair Field.
The game was decided in the ninth inning as the Dirtbags rallied for a pair of runs on the bases loaded single from Luke Taylor before Michael Lombardi closed the door on the rally with a pair of strikeouts with two runners on.
J.D. Rodriguez (1-0) started and pitched well in allowing one hit in five scoreless innings with four strikeouts. Blaise Wilcenski threw three scoreless innings in relief with two strikeouts. Carter Benbrook was unable to record an out in the ninth inning and surrendered two runs. Tayler Montiel struck out the only batter he faced. Lombardi earned his third save of the season with back-to-back strikeouts with a pair of runners on base in the ninth. The loss went to Long Beach State's Ka'imi Kahalekai (0-2) who allowed one run in three innings.
Gavin Schulz led the attack for Tulane with a pair of hits plus a walk and a run scored. Tanner Chun, Lombardi, Connor Rasmussen, Matthias Haas, Kaikea Harrison, Nate Johnson and James Agabedis III all had a hit in the game for the Green Wave. The RBIs came from Harrison, Johnson and Agabedis.
Notables From California Road Trip
The win over Long Beach State (3/2) improved Tulane to 9-3 on the season to start the year. It is Tulane's best start to a campaign since beginning the 2022 season with a 10-2 mark. Since the 2000 season, Tulane has started a year with nine or more wins in the first 12 games 11 times. Michael Lombardi pitched in three of the four games and earned a pair of saves while striking out all four men he faced. J.D. Rodriguez earned his first win at Tulane with five innings worked and one hit allowed against the Dirtbags (3/3). John-Paul Sauer earned his first career victory with 3.1 innings out of the bullpen with five strikeouts against Pepperdine (3/2). Luc Fladda struck out seven against Pepperdine (2/28) and has registered seven or more strikeouts in all three of his starts this season. Trey Cehajic worked five innings against Pepperdine (3/1) for his third straight start of five innings. Matthias Haas recorded a least one hit in all four games in California including multiple hits in three of the four games. Haas has now reached base safely in all 12 games this year and in his last 25 games dating back to the end of last year. He also now has seven multiple hit contests this season. Connor Rasmussen reached base safely in all four games to run his streak to 10. Tanner Chun had a hit in every game on the road trip and has run his hitting streak to five. Four of Gavin Schulz's five hits on the road trip went for extra bases as they were all doubles.
