Baseball Rolls To 9-4 Home Victory Over Nicholls

New Orleans – The Tulane baseball team (27-18, 10-8 AAC) earned a 9-4 home victory over Nicholls (15-27) on Tuesday, April 29, on Greer Field at Turchin Stadium.
Blaise Wilcenski (4-3) started for Tulane and went the first three innings with one hit allowed and four strikeouts. Will Clements then threw two scoreless innings with three strikeouts. Julius Ejike-Charles threw 0.1 of an inning and surrendered two runs with a strikeout. Jacob Moore was the team's fourth pitcher of the evening. He threw 1.2 out of the bullpen with two hits allowed and a strikeout. Garrett Payne also threw 1.2 innings while allowing four hits, two runs, a walk and two strikeouts. Gavin Smith closed it out with 0.1 in the ninth.
Jason Wachs helped lead the charge with two hits, two runs and an RBI. Gavin Schulz had a pair of hits with an RBI. Connor Rasmussen knocked in a run with a sacrifice fly. Matthias Haas totaled two hits, two runs and an RBI. Hugh Pinkney had a hit and a run scored. Tanner Chun recorded a hit, a run scored and an RBI. James Agabedis III totaled a pair of hits and two RBIs. Jackson Linn scored a run as a pinch runner. Kaikea Harrison picked up a hit, two runs scored and an RBI.
The loss was taken by Nicholls Dalton Hill (2-5). Hill surrendered five runs on three hits in three innings.
Tulane scored first with three runs in the opening inning on a Haas single up the middle, a Chun chopper to third and an Agabedis base hit to the opposite field.
The Green Wave added two runs in the second inning on a Wachs double and a Schulz single.
Tulane scored two more in the fifth on a double by Agabedis and an RBI ground out from Lombardi.
Nicholls scored two runs in the top of the sixth on run scoring singles from Aaron Biediger and Carter Jenkins.
The Green Wave added two runs to the lead in the eighth on Harrison's single up the middle and a Rasmussen sacrifice fly.
Nicholls scored a pair of runs in the ninth on the single from Logan Mock to make the final score 9-4.
Next, Tulane keeps the homestand going and hosts Florida Atlantic (29-15, 10-8 AAC) for a conference series from May 2-4 on Greer Field at Turchin Stadium. The game times are Friday, May 2, 6:30 p.m. on Saturday, May 3, at 6:30 p.m. and Sunday, May 4, at 12 p.m.
