Tulane Game Notes
New Orleans - The Tulane baseball team (27-18, 10-8 AAC), after a midweek victory over Nicholls, keeps the homestand going and welcomes in Florida Atlantic (29-15, 10-8 AAC) for a three-game conference set from May 2-4. The game times are 6:30 p.m. on Friday, May 2, 6:30 p.m. on Saturday, May 3, and 12 p.m. on Sunday, May 4, on Greer Field at Turchin Stadium.
Media
The series will be streamed on ESPN+. The Voice of the Green Wave, Corey Gloor, will call the action on the Tulane Sports Network from Learfield on 88.3 WRBH/Varsity Network. Airtime for radio is 15 minutes before first pitch.
Promotions
On Friday the promotion is Teachers in Bleachers where all teachers can get discounted tickets through a special promotion code along with Friday Night Bingo. Saturday is Turchin Caicos where a free beach towel will be given to the first 250 fans. Sunday is May the Wave By With You for Star Wars Day. A free lightsaber will be given to the first 150 fans. The day is also a Riptide Kids Club Day where all Kids Club members receive free game admission, will be able to run the bases following the game and there will be a giveaway of collectible Tulane Baseball cards plus a postgame autograph session with Jay Uhlman, Andrew McKenna, Brock Slaton, John-Paul Sauer and Gavin Smith.
Pitching Matchups
Tulane is slated to start lefty Luc Fladda in the opener on Friday evening against the Owls. Fladda has been the team's series opening starter in each of the first 11 weekends of the season. He is 3-4 on the campaign with 55 strikeouts in 60.1 innings worked and only eight walks. He had worked at least seven innings in four starts this year (vs. Pepperdine – 2/28, vs. Xavier – 3/14, vs. UAB – 4/11 and vs. ECU – 4/25). The 6-1 lefthander went 5-3 last year in his first season as a member of the Green Wave, sporting an earned run average of 4.77 with 61 strikeouts and 21 walks in 83 innings.
On Saturday, in the second game of the series, Tulane starts 6-8 righty Trey Cehajic. Cehajic is 4-2 on the year with a 5.26 ERA with 40 strikeouts in 42.0 innings pitched. He worked as the team's Sunday starter in each of the first two weekends but has been the regular second game weekend hurler since then. His best starting performance of the season came against North Dakota State as he worked a career-high six innings against the Bison in limiting them to two runs. Cehajic hails from Shreveport, Louisiana and is in his second year with the program. As a junior he worked exclusively out of the bullpen in his 19 appearances. He placed second on the team with four saves while totaling 15 strikeouts in 27.1 innings thrown and a 0-2 record.
The Sunday starter for Tulane is to be determined at this point depending on the results and bullpen usage in the two earlier games of the series.
The Owls are expected to start LHP Trey Beard on Friday. Beard is 7-0 on the year with 98 strikeouts in 65.1 innings pitched. He enters the series ranking second in the conference and fifth nationally in strikeouts. He has a 2.48 ERA and is limiting opponents to a .168 batting average against. The team is expected to go with RHP Tyler Murphy in the second game of the series. Murphy is 4-2 on the campaign with 48 strikeouts in 58.1 innings thrown. The program plans on throwing James Litman in the third game of the series. Litman is 3-2 on the year. In 11 starts he thrown 45.2 innings with 41 strikeouts.
Scouting Florida Atlantic
The Owls defeated Florida International on Tuesday by a 5-2 margin. Florida Atlantic lost the series to Charlotte last weekend. Jake Duer has been the top player with his .428 batting average plus 59 hits including 11 doubles, a pair of home runs and 27 RBIs. Duer has only struck out 10 times this season in 138 at bats. Brando Leroux sports a .328 batting average with 44 hits plus 10 doubles, three home runs and 23 RBIs. Marshall Lipsey is hitting .324 with 39 runs, 45 hits, 10 home runs, 33 RBIs and 15 stolen bases. John Martinez has 12 doubles. John Schroeder leads the team in home runs with 11 and RBIs with 37. The Owls team batting average is .296 with 53 home runs. The pitching staff for FAU sports a 4.37 ERA and have 395 strikeouts in 383.1 innings thrown. In addition to three primary starting pitchers, closer MJ Bollinger is 2-2 on the year with nine saves and 31 strikeouts in 32.2 innings worked. John McCormack is in his 17thh year in charge of the program and sports an all-time mark of 569-366. Â

Tulane leads the all-time series with Florida Atlantic 4-1. All five games of the series came last season. Tulane won two out of three against the Owls on the road in Boca Raton, Fla. from April 19-21 and then defeated FAU by scores of 14-2 and 11-1 in the 2024 AAC Baseball Tournament.

Notables from the Nicholls Game
Tulane has won three of the team's last four games. The win improved Tulane to 69-27 all-time against Nicholls. The Green Wave are now 308-166 against current schools in the Southland Conference. The win earned by Blaise Wilcenski was his fourth of the season, which ties him for the team lead along with Tayler Montiel and Trey Cehajic. Jason Wachs extended his consecutive on-base streak to 13 straight. The two hits by Matthias Haas gives him a team-leading 17 multi-hit games on the season. The Tulane pitching staff struck out 11 in the game. It was the team's 23rd game with 10+ strikeouts this season that is eight more than the team had all season in 62 games. The win improved Tulane to 5-3 against schools in the state of Louisiana. The team has now gone 20-8 at home this season. The 20 home victories are the most for the program since the 2022 season. The team has won 20 or more home games for the 24th time in school history.
Schulz Honored by the AAC
Gavin Schulz named to the AAC's Weekly Honor Roll, the league office announced on Monday, April 28.
Schulz helped Tulane to a series road victory over East Carolina over the weekend. It was the program's first series win in Greenville since the 2012 campaign. Schulz led the Green Wave in most offensive categories on the weekend in hitting .417 with seven runs, five hits, two doubles, a pair of home runs, six RBIs, 13 total bases, a slugging percentage of 1.083 and an on-base percentage of .462. He hit safely in all three games, scored at least one run in every game on the weekend and plus had four of his five hits go for extra bases.
This is the first weekly recognition for Schulz this season. Overall the program has been recognized by the conference eight times on the campaign.
