
Wave Welcomes UAB to Uptown Wednesday Night

NEW ORLEANS – Tulane University men's basketball will look to win its sixth consecutive game when it hosts UAB inside Avron B. Fogelman Arena in the Devlin Fieldhouse Wednesday night. The Green Wave has not started 4-0 in conference play since the 1996-97 season when the team began Conference USA competition with a 7-0 record.

The game between the Wave and the Blazers is set to tipoff at 6:30 p.m. on ESPN+. Fans can also listen to the action live on the Tulane Sports Network from Learfield on 106.7 The Ticket with the Voice of the Green Wave Corey Gloor or streaming on the Tulane Athletics App and The Varsity Network App.

This marks the 42nd all-time meeting between Tulane and UAB with the Green Wave trailing the series 14-27. The Wave and the Blazers split the two matchups last season with each team defending home court. Tulane holds an 8-11 record against UAB in Uptown including the 85-68 victory in the regular season finale last year on March 9, 2025. The home victory for the Green Wave over the Blazers last season snapped a seven-game losing streak in New Orleans for the Wave against UAB.

In its last time out, Tulane rolled past UTSA 85-52 on the road on January 10 to secure its fifth-straight victory and its first 3-0 start in conference play since the 1996-97 season. The Green Wave bombarded the Roadrunners from beyond the arc sinking a program-best 19 threes in the game. The trio of Rowan Brumbaugh (23), Curtis Williams Jr. (22), and Asher Woods (17) paced the offensive attack for the Wave combining for 62 of the team's 85 points.

The 19 made threes against UTSA on January 10 marked a program record for three-pointers made in a single game and tied the American Conference record for threes in a game with 19. The previous record for Tulane was 16 in triple overtime at UCF on January 14, 2015. The 19 makes from downtown tied the conference record previously set by Memphis at Wichita State on January 14, 2024, and UTSA against Arkansas-Fort Smith on December 10, 2023.

Brumbaugh was named to the American Conference weekly honorable mention for the second week in a row following Tulane's blowout win at UTSA on January 14. Brumbaugh finished with a game-high 23 points with six made threes and led the team with seven rebounds, five assists, and four steals.

UAB enters the Wednesday's game with an 11-6 overall record and a 2-2 mark in conference play after defeating East Carolina 87-85 in overtime on the road on January 11. So far this season the Blazers lead the American in fastbreak points (16.53), fouls per game (15.0), and defensive rebounds per game (28.18). Meanwhile, five players are averaging double figures in scoring for UAB this season led by Chance Westry who ranks 10th in the league averaging 15.35 points per game.

The Blazers hold a 3-2 record in true road games so far this season including 2-0 in league play with wins at South Florida and East Carolina. In those true road contest UAB is averaging 80.2 points while surrendering 86.0 points per game.

Following the matchup with UAB, Tulane will welcome North Texas to Uptown on Sunday, January 18. The meeting between the Green Wave and the Mean Green is slated to begin at 4 p.m. on ESPN2.
