Volleyball Completes Second Straight Sweep in Victory over Memphis

NEW ORLEANS – The Green Wave volleyball squad completed their second sweep of an American Athletic Conference opponent in as many matches, defeating Memphis 3-0 on Friday night at Avron B. Fogelman Arena in the Devlin Fieldhouse. With the win, Tulane improves to 16-12 on the year, evening to 8-8 in conference play.

HOW IT WAS WON
Memphis would score the first points of the night, battling with Tulane until the end of set one until the Green Wave notched their first victory of the night on three straight kills from junior right-side hitter Sarah Ray. Following the close 25-23 victory, Tulane put on a dominating performance in the second set, trailing early on but stringing together three separate runs of three or more points to seal a convincing 25-16 victory.
Up 2-0 at the set break for the second straight match, the Green Wave sealed the sweep with a 25-17 win over the Tigers, outhitting Memphis .302 to .091 in the final set of the night.
On the night, Tulane notched two consecutive conference sweeps for the first time 2013, led offensively by Sarah Ray, who hit .471 with 17 kills. In addition, senior Tea Juric recorded her 14th double-double of the season, hitting .409 with 10 kills and 16 digs.

The Green wave hit the road for one last travel trip next weekend, playing at Cincinnati on the night of Thursday, Nov. 17 in the team's final match-up with the Bearcats.
