
Volleyball Gears Up for Two Home Matches

NEW ORLEANS- The Tulane University volleyball team is eager to return to Uptown on Saturday as it hosts Oregon State and Louisiana State in the Tulane Invitational inside Avron B. Fogelman Arena in the Devlin Fieldhouse.
The Green Wave (5-4, 0-0 AAC) will take on Oregon State (4-4, 0-0 PAC 12) on Saturday at 11 a.m. before going head-to-head with LSU (4-4, 0-0 SEC) later that evening at 6:30 p.m.
On Saturday, there will be relevant parking changes for those who plan to attend. Those can be found HERE.
The Green Wave started the weekend strong with a victory over Fresno State in its first match on Friday but dropped its second to the Oklahoma on Saturday. Tulane concluded the Santa Clara Home Tournament by prevailing over the host with a five-set thriller on Sunday, securing its second-place finish.
In week three, the Olive and Blue showed its talents. Highlights from the weekend included senior outside hitter Mackenzie Martin, who led the Wave with 16 kills, hitting .302 overall on Friday. Libero Jillian Dits controlled the defensive duties on Saturday with a combined eight digs, three receptions, and an assist. Lastly, on Sunday, the Green Wave had four players with double-digit kills (Mackenzie Martin-17, Amarachi Osuji-14, Melissa Kolurbasi-13, and Kayla Kaiser-10).
For their performances, setter Kate Van Houten and middle hitter Kayla Kaiser were both selected to the all-tournament team.
Oregon State is currently 4-4 this season. After the Beavers lost their first match to Long Beach State (4-2) and their second match Portland State (4-5), they came on strong with wins over Alabama (5-4) and Central Arkansas (5-4). In the following weeks, the Beavers recorded victories against North Texas (5-6) and Portland (5-4) but also suffered losses to Houston (8-1) and Utah State (6-2) to even their record.
LSU also holds a 4-4 record on the 2022 campaign. It secured a 3-0 victory over Samford (4-6) in its season opener and dropped its second and third matches of the season to Houston (8-1) and Rice (8-1). The Tigers bounced back for their next two matches, securing wins over Troy (4-5) and Iowa State (5-4). Their streak came to an end after suffering a loss to Penn State (8-0). In the following weeks, the Tigers tried to find their stride again after a victory over Milwaukee (1-7) but fell short with a loss to Marquette (6-1).
