NEW ORLEANS – UTSA's pitching tandem of Robert Orloski and Ruger Riojas limited host Tulane to one run through eight innings en route to a 6-3 win over the Green Wave Thursday on Greer Field at Turchin Stadium.
Â
UTSA improved to 14-12 and 3-1 in the American Athletic Conference, while Tulane fell to 15-11 and 2-2 in the league.
Â
Orloski and Riojas combined for 13 strikeouts, allowing three runs on eight hits with eight walks. Riojas improved to 5-0 on the season.
Â
Green Wave starter Luc Fladda (0-1) took the loss, giving up three runs on six hits with eight strikeouts against one walk in four and one-third innings.
Â
UTSA shortstop Matt King went 4-for-5 at the plate, while first baseman Alexander Olivo drove in two runs. Right fielder Tye Odom scored twice and had a solo homer (fourth of the season) in the top of the fourth that gave the visitors a lead they would not relinquish.Â
Â
The Roadrunners added single runs in the fifth, seventh, eighth and ninth innings before Green Wave catcher Colin Tuft belted his fourth round-tripper of 2024, a two-run shot, to account for the game's final margin.
Â
Third baseman Gavin Schulz also had two hits, which included an RBI double in the bottom of the first. His seven doubles tie him with Teo Banks for the team lead.

UTSA stranded 13 baserunners to Tulane's eight.
