
Tulane Falls in Four at Wichita State

WICHITA, Ks. – Tulane volleyball (9-11, 1-7) dropped a road battle 1-3 at Wichita State (14-7, 6-3) on Friday night inside Charles Koch Arena.
The loss marked seventh consecutive defeat for the Green Wave and dropped the team to 1-4 on the road this season including 0-4 in conference play. Meanwhile, the Shockers improved to 4-3 overall at home and 3-1 against league opponents.
The duo of Avery Burks and Lauryn Mack led the offensive attack for the Wave against the Shockers. Burks paced the team with 14 kills to go with 11 digs to mark her 18th match this season with a double figure kills and her 12th double-double performance. Mack followed with 12 kills of her own to notch her ninth match of the season with double-digit kills.
Zoe Rachow set up the offense for the Green Wave dishing out 30 assists while adding a match-high19 digs. She also matched her career-highs in kills with and blocks with four.
Defensively, Maddy McLin and Sabrina Skyers patrolled the net for Tulane tallying six and five total blocks, respectively.
The Green Wave pulled out to the initial advantage against the Shockers building 10-7 lead in the opening set. The two team went on to meet in a tie five times before Wichita State pushed in front of the Wave to eventually take the first set 25-20.
The second set was another back-and-forth battle until the Shockers claimed an 11-7 lead over the Wave. Tulane answered with seven-straight points to pull in front 14-11. The set was briefly tied at 19-19 down the stretch, but the Green Wave closed with a 6-1 run to win 25-20.
Tulane and Wichita State four times as each team tried to take control of the match in the third set. The Shocker managed to put together a crucial 3-0 run that the Wave was unable to overcome as Tulane lost the set 21-25.
In the fourth set the Green Wave faced an uphill battle against Wichita State falling behind early. However, Tulane did not let the deficit deter its attack fighting to pull the set to a tie at 18-18. Unfortunately, the Wave was unable to close the set on top falling 20-25 to drop the match 1-3.

Tulane will travel down to Houston for a rematch with the Rice Owls on Sunday, October 26. The match between the Green Wave and the Owls is set for 1 p.m. on ESPN+.
