
Baseball Rolls To 7-1 Series Opening Victory Over UAB

NEW ORLEANS – The Tulane baseball team (22-13, 6-4 AAC), behind the quality start from Luc Fladda, opened the team's conference series with a 7-1 victory over UAB (18-16, 3-7) on Friday night, April 11, on Greer Field at Turchin Stadium
Fladda (2-3) started for Tulane and went seven strong innings with five hits allowed and five strikeouts. Tayler Montiel threw the final two scoreless frames with a strikeout to secure the victory.
UAB's Chase Ingram (2-3) was tagged with the loss after surrendering three runs (two earned) in 3.1 innings.
The Green Wave had three players with multiple hits in Matthias Haas, Jason Wachs and James Agabedis. Agabedis tied his career-high three RBIs in the contest plus scored a pair of runs. Connor Rasmussen knocked in two and a hit. Gavin Schulz, Michael Lombardi and Hugh Pinkney all had a base hit. Kaikea Harrison knocked in a run with a sacrifice bunt.
Tulane was able to outhit the Blazers 10-5 plus drew three walks.
UAB scored first and ultimately the team's only run in the opening frame on a Nick Hollifield RBI single up the middle.
Tulane took the lead in the bottom of the fourth inning on a three-run home run from Agabedis.
The Green Wave added four tallies to the lead in the sixth inning on Harrison's sacrifice bunt with a runner on third, an RBI single by Haas followed by a two-run double from Rasmussen.
Next, Tulane plays the second game of the series against the Blazers starting at 6:30 p.m.
